Chris Holmes

Chris Holmes is the President and CEO of FirstBank. While his career has included working with banks in several countries worldwide, his global view of economics includes an understanding that banking is driven by local needs and providing individual service to customers. Originally from Lexington, Tennessee, Holmes has a background in rural communities and urban metro centers.

In 2016, Holmes led FirstBank’s initial public offering (under FB Financial Corp.), the largest IPO in Tennessee banking history. Chris also led the acquisitions of Northwest Georgia Bank, Clayton Bank and Trust, and American City Bank, as well as the purchase of 14 retail locations from Atlantic Capital Bank. Most recently, Holmes led a merger agreement with Franklin Synergy Bank (FSB), which resulted in FirstBank becoming the third-largest bank headquartered in Tennessee.

Before joining FirstBank in 2010 as Chief Banking Officer, Holmes served as the Director of Corporate Financial Services and the Chief Retail Banking Officer for South Financial Group. He worked for 20 years in Memphis, first with EY and then National Bank of Commerce, which SunTrust acquired, and Trustmark National Bank. Currently, Holmes serves on the boards of FB Financial Corporation, FirstBank, Delta Dental, Pinson Hospital Hospitality House, Nashville Area Chamber, Tennessee Bankers Association (Chairman), Tennessee Hospital Association (ex-officio), and YMCA of Middle Tennessee (Executive Committee). He is a cabinet member of Partnership 2030, an organization spearheaded by the Nashville Area Chamber to form future regional strategy for economic development.

Holmes enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and three daughters. He also enjoys hunting, biking, snow skiing, and golf.
